About James D. Lilly, M.D.
Dr. James Lilly is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates. He performs routine GI procedures such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy in the diagnosis, screening and surveillance of gastrointestinal diseases and cancers. In addition, he also treats disorders of the liver and pancreas. He has an interest in C. difficile infections and can perform FMT. He is fluent in English and is a member of the ACG, AGA, and ASGE. He was the President of the Medical Staff at Ochsner Baptist in 2019 and 2020.
Education
- Undergraduate: Louisiana State University
- Medical School: LSU School of Medicine – New Orleans
- Residency & Fellowship: LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I became interested in GI at a young age because my father was a gastroenterologist. Despite that, I kept an open mind about specialties throughout medical school and residency. In the end, I found GI to be the most interesting.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
My family and I enjoy traveling, sailing and attending LSU football games.
